Barry Friedson, CFA®, CFP®

Financial Advisor Special Needs Division

Barry started his financial planning career at Allied Wealth Partners, in 2012 after a decade on Wall Street delivering complex trading and portfolio optimization solutions for portfolio managers and traders at various financial institutions including Alliance Capital, Deutsche Bank and Arden Asset Management.

At Allied Wealth Partners, Barry co-founded the Special Needs Division in order to provide financial planning solutions for the unique needs of families with a child with special needs. Being a father of a son with special needs, he understands the challenges and joys that special needs families face. He works with his clients to ensure that their loved one with special needs can be provided the care that they require throughout their lifetime. Since every family’s situation is unique, he delivers individualized customized solutions for his clients that he considers “Exceptional plans for extraordinary people”. In 2016, Barry joined Newroads Financial as a Senior Financial Planner and still maintains a strong affiliation with Allied Wealth Partners and the Special Needs Division.

Barry has been awarded the Certified Financial Planner TM (CFP ®) designation. To earn the CFP® an advisor must have a bachelor’s degree, have at least three years of full-time financial planning related experience, and complete course work in the following areas: insurance planning and risk management, employee benefits planning, investment planning, income tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning. The advisor must pass a comprehensive 10 hour examination. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®). In addition to holding his Series 7 and 66 registrations, Barry is a licensed broker of life, health, disability and long-term care insurance. Barry earned his Master of Business Administration in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University as well as duel engineering degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.

Barry resides in Scotch Plains with his wife, Denise, their two children. He is involved in many local charitable organizations including The Valerie Fund, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, as well as a family foundation through UJA in New York. Barry is an active member of the Penn and NYU Alumni associations. He is an avid runner having completed multiple full and half marathons and a lifelong fan of the NJ Devils.​
